The position involves analyzing, reviewing, and inspecting residential, commercial, or industrial construction building plans to ensure compliance with all applicable adopted building, electrical, and/or mechanical/plumbing codes and ordinances. The role requires direct interaction with the general public, architects, engineers, developers, and contractors to verify code compliance of construction drawings. Additionally, the position acts as a liaison for the department, answering questions related to building construction plans. Responsibilities also include researching and providing information on new building codes and regulations, as well as performing a variety of technical tasks related to plan review and code compliance.
