We are looking for a hardworking and enthusiastic Plant Planner / Scheduler to join our Operations dream team and help us drive Operational Excellence throughout our facilities. The Role Optimize Equipment and Resource Allocation Strategic scheduling of equipment and resources to meet customer requested and promised delivery dates. Manage inventory levels to optimize service levels and manage working capital. Maintain forward looking plan, load schedule and labor requirements 4–6 weeks out. Ensure timely sampling and resource allocation to meet customer’s delivery expectations. Analyze forward looking forecasts and calculate utilization of specific molds, machines, and work cells. Recommend needed capacity additions to support forecasts at targeted lead times. Deliver goods on time, in full, and free from shipment defects. Facilitate and support LEAN activities throughout plant. Ensure all safety and environmental policies are being followed in area(s) of responsibility. Inventory Management Manage excess and obsolescence to minimize the financial exposure to the business caused by a change to an existing product or discontinued product. Establish production scheduling capabilities that meet on-time delivery commitments, maximize labor resources, build efficient mold change schedules, efficient run strategies and incorporate work center mold preventative maintenance schedules. Oversee the planning and implementation of production pertaining to new product opportunities within the plant. Enforce processes to manage inventory (Turns, Finished Goods, WIP, R&D and Customer Kanban) to improve metrics. Drive inventory reduction by implementing improvement areas including but not limited to material planning, supplier stocking programs, lead time reductions, ECO implementations. Optimization of Sample Process and Bill of Materials (BOM) Maintenance. Collaborate with Quality department to ensure timely sampling and resource availability. Ensure customer specifications are met and team has accurate documentation. Ensure Bill of Materials (BOM), mold, raw materials, packaging, labor, cycle and routings are accurate; interact with Quality to ensure packaging instructions accuracy, validate variances with Operations, taking action to correct and update cycle and routing information as necessary. Continuous Improvement and Optimization Collaborate with internal departments to ensure engineering, operations and sales samples are scheduled in a timely manner. Ensure customer specifications are met and the team has accurate documentation. Ensure Bill of Materials (BOM), mold, raw materials, packaging, labor, cycle are accurate: interact with Quality to ensure packaging instruction accuracy, validate variances with Operations, take actions to correct and update cycle and routing information as needed. Utilize Comar systems such as the Business Intelligence platform, DOMO and Enterprise Resource Planning system, IQMS to analyze and proactively respond to areas of inefficiency and use performance metrics to drive improvement. Develop the master production schedule and finite schedule for assigned production lines, reviewing daily/weekly/monthly production to make the necessary adjustments to reflect changes in customer requirements, material receipt delays, and production capacity requirements. Use IQMS materials resource planning, inventory management, work order management, auto replenishment and forecasting modules to minimize costs, reduce lead times, maintain delivery performance goals, etc. Use weekly and monthly performance metrics including key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive performance improvement. Communications Communicate supply/demand information throughout the plant so that stakeholders are aware of key information and metrics. Ensure communications between Planning/Logistics and Customer Service are timely and clear. Develop and sustain open and productive relationships with key corporate and operational personnel. Lead the logistics teams to ensure shipments are fulfilled in a timely manner, perpetual inventories are maintained accurately, and freight costs are minimized. Initiate and maintain relationships with appropriate industry and professional organizations/associates to maintain state-of-the-art knowledge encompassing best practices and technology

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting.
  • 10 years related experience and/or training in a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated fluency with Microsoft EXCEL and data analysis, including use of pivot tables, lookups, and logic-based formulas.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations "where only limited standardization exists.”
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Regularly required to walk through plant operations perform inventories and gain a working knowledge of plant floor operations.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and lift or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Occasionally exposed to moving mobile equipment, truck carts, and lifting devices to verify inventory.
  • Exposed to a noise level in the plant that is usually moderate.

  • Working knowledge of Domo and IQMS systems or ability to quickly learn and become user proficient.
