The Planning Manager will oversee the Planning department's project scope and daily operations, leading special projects and managing comprehensive planning efforts. This role involves serving as a mediator between the city and stakeholders, presenting proposals at public hearings, and collaborating with various city departments to contribute to strategic discussions with the Planning Director.

  • Oversee the Planning department's project scope and daily operations.
  • Lead special projects and manage comprehensive planning efforts.
  • Serve as a mediator between the City and external/internal stakeholders.
  • Present project proposals at public hearings of the City Planning Commission and City Council.
  • Manage Long Range Planning through the development of comprehensive master plans.
  • Research existing plans and survey subject areas for conditions needing attention.
  • Identify and collaborate with stakeholders to compile issues and concerns.
  • Participate in discussions with upper management and management committees.
  • Coordinate with other division managers regarding resource allocation.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a related area of study.
  • Five years of full-time, professional experience in a related field.
  • Three years of supervisory experience.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification and/or American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification.
  • Master's degree in planning or a related field.
  • Experience with public speaking.
  • Experience supervising professionals and consultants.
