About The Position

Assists the Planning Team in a variety of tasks related to the development of the nature-based solution program and nature-based projects for stormwater management. Immediately report injuries for prompt diagnosis and treatment. 3) Make regular suggestions for safety process improvements to support continuous safety improvement.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. is required.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record.
  • Knowledge of: Engineering principles and practices as applied to modeling, planning, designing, construction, and maintenance of various civil or environmental projects.
  • Knowledge of: Sustainable design and construction practices, ecological or stream restoration
  • Knowledge of: Project management
  • Knowledge of: Microsoft Office Suite, GIS and/or CADD, HEC-HMS, and HEC-RAS
  • Skills and Abilities: Critical thinking, independent judgement, and decision-making
  • Skills and Abilities: Oral and written communication, to include technical writing and report preparation
  • Skills and Abilities: Establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Skills and Abilities: Must be able to function in a principle-based organization that has a culture built on character and SARA Core Values of Stewardship, Integrity, and Excellence.

Nice To Haves

  • Enrollment within college courses in biology, ecology, landscape design or related field, or experience and education that results in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support data management tasks associated with avian and vegetation studies.
  • Research and document case studies related to nature-based solutions.
  • Perform research and preliminary site analysis related to the design of nature-based solutions.  For example: Site location and size, neighborhood context, geology, natural and man-made features, hydrology, soils, vegetation, wildlife, climate, culture, pedestrian and vehicular circulation, access, utilities, historic factors, etc.
  • Support training courses and coordination with developers associated with Low-Impact Development and Nature Based Solutions.
  • Performs related work as required.
