About The Position

Under the Supervision of a Senior Planner and Supervisors of the Parks Department, the Planning Department Intern performs work related to the Tree Equity and Workforce Education Program (City Trees Project). The Planning Department Intern plants, maintains, and catalogues trees throughout the City.

Requirements

• Coursework in biology, ecology, environmental science, or related discipline.
• Experience using office productivity software like Microsoft Office.
• Must be able to perform physical work such as digging, lifting, and watering.
• Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Plants, waters, and maintains trees in areas throughout the City.
• Enters and maintains tree-related data in the City’s Geographic Information System (GIS).
• Researches planting areas and ideal tree species for each site.
• Performs related duties as required.
