About The Position

General: Represent the citizens of the Commissioner District on the combined Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment. Must possess a willingness and ability to consider citizen requests and county ordinances and plans objectively, professionally and abide by proper public hearing etiquette. Provide fair, unbiased and courteous consideration of citizen requests while adhering to all applicable laws and regulations. Attend the regularly scheduled evening meetings of the body twice per month and accomplish necessary property viewing prior to the meetings. Attend training and in-services as required. Specific Board of Adjustment duties: Hear citizen requests for variances from official land use controls and grant or deny such requests. The Board of Adjustment also hears and decides upon citizen appeals where it is alleged that there is an error in any order, requirement, decision or determination made by the Land Services Director in the enforcement of the Land Use Control Ordinance. Specific Planning Commission duties: Hear and review applications and submit reports and offer recom­menda­tions thereon to the County Board for a variety of citizen land use requests including but not limited to conditional and interim use permits, subdivi­sion plat approval and rezone requests. Hear and make recommendation on the preparation of Morrison County documents including land use controls, Mississippi Headwaters Ordinance and the Comprehensive Land Use Plan Perform other functions the County Board delegates to it.

Requirements

  • Must be a resident living within the Commissioner District 2.
  • Commissioner District 2: Belle Prairie township, or the city of Little Falls - Ward 2 and Ward 3
