About The Position

The Division of Emergency Management is hiring a Planner that performs professional research, analysis and planning work in the development and implementation of comprehensive plans for use at the agency or statewide level. Job duties include but are not limited to the following: Serve as the division's recovery planner. Research, analysis and planning work associated with development of comprehensive recovery plans used by the division. Perform research and analysis as to national recovery planning standard. Coordinate with the division management, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and local officials to develop and maintain comprehensive state recovery plans. Conduct planning activities which includes researching and evaluating data and conducting feasibility studies regarding recovery programs, grants, technical assistance available from state and federal programs which can be assessed and deployed before, during and after disaster events to assist impacted communities. Serve as project coordinator for local governments regarding the development of recovery plans which are in concert with the state's comprehensive recovery plan, emergency operations plan and long term recovery plan. Provide advice to local emergency management programs regarding recovery plans to ensure compatibility with FEMA policies, procedures and grant requirements. Coordinate with state agencies and external stakeholders to assign roles and responsibilities associated with preparation for, recovery from catastrophic events. Support and fill a role within the State Emergency Operations Center during activation, exercises or planning activations.

Requirements

  • EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of experience in planning.
  • Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Graduate work in planning or a related field will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two years.
  • Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in research, analysis of data, planning, or a related field will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis. Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.
