About The Position

The Planner position at England-Thims & Miller, Inc. involves assisting with technical research, data collection and analysis, report writing, and preparing plans and studies related to land development projects. The role requires providing advice on land development review processes, creating and interpreting maps, and coordinating with government agencies on regulatory matters. The Planner will also assist with site feasibility studies and prepare applications for various land use approvals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in planning or related field; Master's preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience with local government regulatory requirements and processes.
  • AICP certification to be received within three (3) years of employment.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of planning and zoning.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ArcGIS.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and/or Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively on a multi-disciplined project team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with technical research, data collection, and analysis.
  • Prepare plans and studies related to land development projects.
  • File applications to local and regional government agencies.
  • Provide advice concerning land development review and entitlement processes.
  • Create and interpret maps, plans, exhibits, and diagrams.
  • Advise internal project teams on regulatory planning and zoning matters.
  • Coordinate with government reviewers regarding land development regulations.
  • Assist with preliminary site feasibility studies for property owners or buyers.
  • Prepare and file applications for comprehensive plan amendments, rezoning, and variances.
  • Prepare the land use component of transit or traffic studies.
  • Provide guidance during the site planning process regarding regulatory requirements.
