About The Position

The Planner/Warehouse Tech is central to the management of warehouse operations and inventory control at a turbine facility. This role involves reviewing quotes, initiating purchase requisitions, managing vendor and parts data, and maintaining inventory using CMMS software. The Planner/Warehouse Tech plays a role in maintaining supplier relationships, negotiating orders, ensuring timely deliveries, and optimizing procurement processes. Additionally, this position provides maintenance planning and supply support to maintenance personnel, with attention to materials and equipment specific to power plant operations. Your scope of responsibility as Planner / Warehouse Technician includes the following primary functions: Warehouse Operations Support oversight of all warehouse functions, including receiving, storage, organization, and distribution of spare parts, consumables, turbine components, chemicals, safety gear, and power plant materials to sustain continuous operations. Maintain inventory tracking systems by conducting regular cycle counts and performing full physical inventories to ensure accuracy and prevent shortages or overstock conditions. Improve warehouse layout, storage methods, and material-handling practices to enhance space efficiency and accessibility of critical assets, including gas and steam turbine components, pumps, motors, low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical equipment, valves, actuators, and sensitive control equipment. Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics by working with suppliers, carriers, and internal teams to ensure timely receipt and distribution of materials. Drive ongoing process improvements aimed at increasing efficiency, reducing downtime, and strengthening readiness for both scheduled and emergency maintenance activities. Safely operate material-handling equipment—including forklifts, telehandlers, golf carts, pickup trucks, and vans—in compliance with site policies and safety requirements. Contribute to additional routine and non-routine tasks and special projects as assigned. CMMS Utilization, Maintenance Support & Compliance Develop proficiency in using the CMMS to manage procurement workflows—including requisitions, purchase orders, vendor management, receipts, and invoices—while maintaining accurate data for inventory, assets, and reporting. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize CMMS configurations and support system upgrades that enhance supply chain performance and operational efficiency. Provide direct support to Maintenance by delivering tools, parts, and materials for planned and emergency work, assisting with light tasks, and preparing parts kits as needed. Maintain appropriate stock levels of critical spare parts and consumables to support power plant equipment reliability. Participate in audits, surveys, and data requests related to inventory control, procurement activities, and supply chain processes. Ensure warehouse operations comply with established policies, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols, with particular emphasis on the handling of hazardous and critical materials. Working Relationships The Planner / Warehouse Technician reports to the Maintenance Manager, takes general direction from plant management and coordinates with all other plant personnel as needed in support of the daily operation of the plant. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Physical requirements include standing and walking for extended periods on uneven, rough, or inclined surfaces; climbing stairs, ladders, and equipment; and working from elevated platforms or confined locations at varying heights. Frequent lifting, carrying, and maneuvering of materials or tools weighing up to 50 pounds is expected. The power plant environment will involve working in an industrial setting, which can include confined spaces, low-clearance areas, or restricted pathways. Tasks may require crawling, kneeling, or stooping in tight quarters. Exposure to vibration, high noise levels, moisture, extreme temperatures, and low-light conditions is common. Work may also take place indoors or in outdoor settings where weather conditions can change, such as the loading and unloading of trucks onsite. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and may include hard hats, safety glasses or goggles, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, gloves (including hot- and cut-resistant), flame-resistant clothing (FRC), and fall protection harnesses. Respirator fit testing may be required. Fitness for Duty All personnel will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program, which includes a post-offer physical examination, drug screening, and post-employment random drug screening. Work Schedule The Planner / Warehouse Technician works a standard Monday to Friday day shift schedule, ensuring consistent plant operation and support during regular business hours. This position will also occasionally necessitate extended working hours and flexible shifts as needed, including weekends and holidays, in response to schedules, workload demands, and plant conditions. Periodic callouts or “On call” status may also be required.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment, as would be acquired in four years of high school.
  • Must currently possess a valid TWIC card or have the ability to obtain one upon hire.
  • Skilled in managing warehouse or similar operations in an industrial or transportation environment, including inventory control, storage, and distribution of parts, chemicals, industrial equipment components, and safety gear, with industrial fleet maintenance and planning considered a plus.
  • Capable of working in a union environment and collaborating with various disciplines within a union.
  • Knowledgeable in inventory systems, best practices, and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), including cycle counts, physical inventories, and warehouse layout optimization to support power plant operations, processing, and storage operations.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints, maintenance manuals, and parts manuals for researching parts, specifications, and related information.
  • Competent in operating forklifts, trucks, and other material-handling equipment safely.
  • Well-versed in EHS regulations for warehouse operations, including chemical storage and industrial site safety hazards.
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic, integrity, and reliability, with excellent organizational and communication skills, including the ability to support audits, surveys, and supplier performance tracking, even under adverse or time-critical conditions.
  • Open to receiving training that aligns with all safety and environmental regulations in the power plant industry.
  • Must possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license and ensure it remains in good standing at all times.
