About The Position

There is one (1) vacancy in the Department of Planning and Permitting, Planning Division, Development Plans & Zone Changes Branch. Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: Participate in the development and updates of long-range regional plans and special area plans. Monitoring compliance with conditions of unilateral agreements (UAs) via reviewing and commenting on various applications and plans. Reviewing annual reports and updating staff monitoring reports for UAs. Assists with reviewing affordable housing projects for compliance with applicable requirements pursuant to the UAs and Chapter 29 ROH, from the entitlement phase to the post-construction phase. Independently reviewing, evaluating and drafting reports recommending action on proposals for zone change and zoning district boundary adjustment. Conduct research by gathering and analyzing land use, economic, social and environmental data related to assigned projects. Responding to inquiries and perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited college or university with major work in city planning, architecture, engineering, economics, sociology, public administration or a related field.
  • Four years of professional (post-bachelor's degree, non-clerical) experience in architecture, engineering, or socio-economic research, including or supplemented by two years of professional work experience in city planning or related planning activities.
  • Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Geography, Economics, Sociology, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field from a regionally-accredited college/university may be substituted for two years of architecture, engineering, or socio-economic research experience.
  • A Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from a regionally-accredited college/university may be substituted for two years of architecture, engineering, or socio-economic research experience and one year of city planning experience.

Benefits

  • Salary commensurate with applicable experience: $5,918 to $6,922 per month (SR-24), pending approval.
