About The Position

Performs routine planning and research work. Work involves developing local, regional, and state plans and programs; and preparing implementation plans and monitoring policies and procedures. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE). Major course work in Business Administration or a related field preferred. Each year of experience as described below in excess of the required four years may be substituted for thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university on a year-for-year basis.
  • Four years full-time, wage-earning planning or research experience.
  • Knowledge of government organization and administration.
  • Knowledge of principles, objectives, procedures, and methodologies of governmental planning and programming.
  • Knowledge of applicable state and city permits and ordinances.
  • Skill to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.
  • Skill to coordinate with other staff, departments, officials, agencies, organizations, and the public.
  • Skill to read blueprints, drawings, and floor plans.
  • Skill to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Skill in administrative problem-solving techniques.
  • Skill in public address.
  • Skill in technical writing and development of information publications.
  • Skill to review and analyze complex technical data and develop reports.
  • Skill to plan work in order to meet established guidelines.
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, lift and carry under 15 lbs., perceive depth, operate a motor vehicle, and operate motor equipment.
  • Conditions include working inside, working around machines with moving parts and moving objects, radiant and electrical energy, working closely with others, working alone, working protracted or irregular hours, and traveling by car, van, bus, and airplane.
  • Equipment (machines, tools, devices) used in performing only the essential functions include computer and related equipment, calculator, copier, fax machine, telephone, dolly, and automobile

Nice To Haves

  • Leasing or property management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of space planning methods, techniques, and strategies preferred.
  • Knowledge of commercial real estate practices preferred.
  • Knowledge of procurement policies and procedures preferred.
  • Knowledge of the space planning of systems furniture preferred.
  • Knowledge of agency and departmental organizational structure, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations preferred.
  • Skill in the use of AutoCAD or equivalent computer-aided design software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in developing procedures for implementing plans and programs and measuring progress within the Office of Space Management; and reviews and evaluates planning material for contractual compliance.
  • Consults and communicates with other departments, agencies, and civic groups in furthering interest and action regarding plans and programs; and participates in planning conferences.
  • Conducts field surveys; and consults and communicates with local, state, and federal departments in matters concerning the coordination of plans and programs.
  • Prepares technical manuals, promotional literature, news releases, and other informational material regarding plans and programs.
  • Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.
