This opportunity entails working as part of a larger team to prepare all levels of environmental documentation (including Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, and Environmental Impact Statements) in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and federal, state, and local environmental regulations and requirements. This will include preparing supporting documents and mapping such as waters reports, Red Flag Investigations, early coordination letters. This position will also assist our staff with preparing permit applications including Section 404/401, IDNR Construction in a Floodway, and IDEM Construction Stormwater General Permits. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or related field
  • Assists with researching and writing all or sections of environmental documents, including Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, and Environmental Impact Statements.
  • Works in GIS to prepare mapping, graphics, and determine impacts.
  • Prepares Red Flag Investigations, early coordination letters, and other supporting documents
  • Coordinating with clients, agencies, and other stakeholders with respect to potential environmental impacts of proposed projects.
  • Assists with preparing permit applications, such as Section 404/401, IDNR Construction in a Floodway, and IDEM Construction Stormwater General Permits.
  • Assists senior scientists with conducting waters investigations, including wetland delineations, and preparing Waters of the U.S./State Reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology or related field
  • Experience with ArcGIS, Microsoft Office, and Adobe.
  • Experience with INDOT

Responsibilities

  • Researches and collects raw data, organizes, analyzes and provides review of the data for use in projects and for further analysis.
  • Performs project analysis using technical guidance and software.
  • Assists project team members with various support tasks such as development of maps, exhibits, presentation materials, and reporting.
  • Conducts research on issues, policies, and concepts pertaining to planning.
  • Assists in the development of conceptual planning alternatives for urban and transportation planning projects
  • Performs tasks related to the preparation and production of plans, studies, reports, and environmental documents for transportation and infrastructure projects.
  • Assists in stakeholder and public participation process.
  • Maintains records, collections and files related to specific projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
