About The Position

Performs County planning duties relating to zoning, development, census data, and other long-range planning matters to support and expedite the work of the Community Development Department of Washington County.

Requirements

• Knowledge of principles and practices of community development, urban planning, building construction, site development, zoning ordinances, urban design, historic preservation and architecture as applied to County planning.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; handle conflict resolution; maintain effective working relationships with individuals from diverse organizations and backgrounds; promote a positive image of Washington County.
• Working knowledge of personal computers and applications; mapping systems; current and long range planning and site plan compliance; site development, zoning ordinances, urban design, environmental protection and architecture; relationship between factors affecting planning policy such as economic, sociological, legal, etc; research and statistical methods, data interpretation related to property descriptions; land use, zoning, Federal, State and local laws.
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Landscape Architecture or a closely related field to planning and building.
• One (1) year of work experience performing civic planning activities.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience.
