About The Position

Engineering Planners are responsible for loading and maintaining the design & engineering schedules (Integrated Master Schedule) for the various programs at Electric Boat. Within the Integrated Master Schedule, an Engineering Planner is responsible for maintaining the pertinent activity level information to ensure the requirements of each submarine program are met. Engineering Planners play a crucial role in the development and maintenance of critical schedules supporting the various business requirements at Electric Boat. Requirements of a successful Engineering Planner are as follows: Support various departments including, but not limited to Program Office, Finance, Design and Engineering across all Electric Boat programs. Assist in the development and maintenance of the Integrated Master Schedules and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) that identify the Design, Engineering and Life Cycle support products and activities scheduled to support program objectives. Communicate and act as a liaison between Design and Engineering, Program Management and Finance to ensure that the maintenance of critical schedules is supporting the various business requirements. Gain an understanding of Engineering Planning's impact on other planning groups (Advance Planning, Detail Planning) and use that knowledge to ensure Design and Engineering deliverables are properly scheduled and delivered to support those groups. Analyze data around manpower planning and Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) to support best practices and business needs. Electric Boat offers Flexible Work Arrangements that allows some work to be performed remotely and at home. This varies from position to position based on the amount of classified material the department interacts with, as well as a few other variables. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of work experience in scheduling or planning
  • Strong Microsoft Office tools, including ability to analyze and manage large datasets and review metrics with all levels of management
  • Candidates must have strong analytical skills, verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels
  • Critical thinking/problem solving exposure
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and facilitate meetings with large groups including all levels of management
  • Knowledge of MS Office software, specifically Excel, Power Point and Project

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Electric Boat Planning and/or Design & Engineering experience
  • Business/Finance degree
  • Knowledge of Manpower scheduling
  • Working Knowledge of Earned Value Management principles
  • Experience with project management software, such as but not limited to Artemis, MS Project, Primavera, Fast track etc
