About The Position

The City of O'Fallon is seeking a detail-oriented Plan Reviewer to join our Engineering team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that site construction plans comply with City Code and sound engineering practices, contributing to a safe and well-planned community.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3–5 years of experience in land development or engineering plan review preferred.
  • Ability to read construction plans and prepare hydraulic/detention basin calculations strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles, surveying practices, city codes, and floodplain regulations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and job-related software.
  • Valid Missouri driver's license.
  • Certified Floodplain Manager (or ability to obtain within 3 months).

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with floodplain development maps and terminology is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review engineering plan submittals (construction plans, as-built drawings, escrow agreements) for residential and commercial developments.
  • Evaluate plot plans for building permits, excavation, and driveway applications.
  • Manage the City's floodplain program and Community Rating System to ensure compliance with local and federal regulations.
  • Review planning and zoning submittals for code compliance.
  • Communicate with residents, contractors, engineers, utility companies, and City departments regarding development, construction, floodplain, and stormwater issues.
  • Review subdivision plats for accuracy and required infrastructure.
  • Perform occasional field/site visits to address development concerns.
  • Track plan submittals and assist with snow removal operations.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
