The Plan Review Supervisor oversees the Plan Review team within the Building Division of the Planning and Building Department. This role involves planning, assigning, reviewing, and supervising the work of staff, conducting site inspections, enforcing compliance with regulations, performing plan reviews, and serving as a chief consultant on code interpretation. The supervisor is responsible for implementing departmental policies, maintaining quality standards, and coordinating between sections while performing various administrative tasks.

  • Oversee the Plan Review team within the Building Division.
  • Plan, assign, review, and supervise the work of assigned staff.
  • Conduct site inspections and issue correction notices.
  • Enforce compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Perform plan reviews and act as chief consultant on code interpretation.
  • Assist the Chief Building Official in preparing code and ordinance changes.
  • Implement departmental policies and ensure quality standards are maintained.
  • Coordinate between sections and perform related administrative tasks.
  • Independently perform professional work in inspections, plan checking, and code enforcement.
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Architecture, Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Industrial Technology, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
  • Four years of progressively responsible experience in building inspection, code enforcement, or a closely related field, including one year in a lead worker or supervisory position.
  • Possession of a valid California driver license when driving is an essential function of the position.
  • Possession of a current International Code Council (ICC) certification and one or more ICC certificates in areas such as Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanical, Building, or Code Enforcement.
  • Experience in mentoring and developing subordinate staff.
  • Technical expertise in building codes and construction methods.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including influence, communication, and negotiation.
