Performs independent review of a broad range of civil infrastructure plans and exercises professional judgment in applying municipal standards and requirements. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • 3–6 years of progressively responsible experience in: Civil plan review
  • 3–6 years of progressively responsible experience in: Municipal public works engineering
  • 3–6 years of progressively responsible experience in: Private land development or infrastructure design
  • Strong working knowledge of: Grading and drainage design
  • Strong working knowledge of: Stormwater management and LID requirements
  • Strong working knowledge of: Water, sewer, and storm drain infrastructure

Nice To Haves

  • Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • Prior experience supporting California cities, counties, or special districts
  • Familiarity with: Greenbook (Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction)
  • Familiarity with: Caltrans standards and specifications
  • Familiarity with: County drainage, hydrology, or flood control manuals
  • Strong written communication and technical documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently in a consultant support role

Responsibilities

  • Independently review civil plans and technical documents
  • Coordinate directly with applicants and municipal staff
  • Provide responses to technical questions regarding comments and corrections
  • Independently evaluate coordination between multiple civil disciplines and supporting documents
  • Identify and resolve plan coordination issues affecting constructability, quantities, or compliance
  • Participate in technical coordination meetings or calls with project engineers as needed
