The Placement Coordinator (Animal Program Coordinator) is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of animal shelter live release programs and services. This role involves enforcing policies, monitoring performance measures, and ensuring the humane treatment of animals. The coordinator will interact with the public, provide information about animal care services, and maintain records while working in various environments, including both indoor and outdoor settings.

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of assigned animal shelter programs and services.
  • Enforce processes and policies related to animal shelter programs.
  • Monitor and report results to meet performance measures.
  • Provide animal care information to citizens about shelter programs and services.
  • Respond to complex inquiries regarding services, ordinances, and procedures.
  • Communicate with customers in person and through various platforms.
  • Assist customers seeking services at Animal Care Services (ACS).
  • Transport pets to and from various locations.
  • Ensure safe and humane handling of animals for various purposes.
  • Coordinate with other agencies related to designated programs.
  • Maintain required records in the shelter's database.
  • Clean kennels and surrounding areas to ensure a sanitary environment.
  • Monitor the medical/behavioral status of animals and perform health care activities.
  • Perform routine administrative duties and cashiering as needed.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Two years of animal handling experience.
  • Two years of customer service experience.
  • Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
