About The Position

Do you speak fluent brisket? Can you smell when ribs are just right ? South Branch Smokehouse is looking for an experienced Pit Master to lead our kitchen, command the smokers, and deliver bold, consistent flavors that keep guests coming back for more. This is more than cooking — it’s craftsmanship, leadership, and pride in every plate. Compensation and Benefits : $17.00 - $24.00/hr. As our Pit Master, you’ll be the heart of the Smokehouse, responsible for daily operations, team leadership, and maintaining the standards that define our food.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Pit Master, Chef, or Cook
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills
  • Deep knowledge of smoking techniques, food prep, and kitchen operations
  • Familiarity with sanitation and food safety regulations
  • Ability to stay calm and organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills
  • Ability to stand for long periods and work all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Nice To Haves

  • Culinary school diploma preferred, but experience speaks loudest

Responsibilities

  • Lead all daily food prep and smoking operations
  • Cook and smoke meats to company recipes and quality standards
  • Guide and mentor the kitchen team to ensure consistency, speed, and presentation
  • Oversee inventory, weekly ordering, and proper food storage
  • Ensure all food safety and sanitation standards are followed
  • Plan menus and specials while managing food costs
  • Train kitchen staff on food prep, safety, and company standards
  • Enforce daily/weekly opening, closing, and cleaning procedures
  • Hire, schedule, train, and discipline kitchen staff as needed
  • Meet with catering clients to plan custom event menus
  • Deliver exceptional food and guest experiences, every service
