We have an exciting opportunity for a Piping or Plumbing Designer located in Milwaukee, WI.  How you will contribute: As a Plumbing or Piping Designer at J. F. Ahern, you’ll play a critical role in the success of our projects. You will design and model complex systems—either plumbing or piping—based on provided specifications and ensure all associated drawings, calculations, and material lists are accurate and complete. Your work sets the foundation for project execution, enabling our field and shop teams to deliver with optimal productivity and efficiency. You’ll collaborate with project teams to coordinate comprehensive systems that vary in size and scope, operating independently in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines and ensure quality.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Design, Civil Engineering, Computer-Aided Drafting/Design, or a related field with proficiency in recent versions of software, including Revit, Navisworks and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
  • equivalent field experience such as managing large commercial or industrial construction projects that involve fabrication and coordination responsibilities
  • strong understanding of building construction
  • ability to read blueprints
  • solid math and problem-solving skills
  • able to manage design schedules and lead coordination efforts
  • working knowledge of Wisconsin Plumbing Code is necessary (for plumbing designers)
  • experience with steam and hydronic systems (for piping designers)
