About The Position

The Piping Drafter position at OPD involves basic drafting and design responsibilities, focusing on piping materials, fittings, valves, and supports. The role requires effective communication with the engineering team and the ability to understand engineering feedback and terminology to enhance knowledge in the field.

Requirements

• Familiar with drafting P&IDs.
• Aptitude for engineering concepts and practical design.
• Able to prioritize working on multiple projects.
• Proficient using AutoCAD for 2D and 3D drafting.

Nice To Haves

• Basic pipe design knowledge.
• Past experience working in a pipe fabrication environment.
• Past experience modeling equipment or routing pipe within a 3D model.
• Past experience using CADWorx software.

Responsibilities

• Basic drafting and design using AutoCAD software to create and modify piping drawings.
• Ensure that any designs are in alignment with project/client specifications.
• Draft piping isometrics, general arrangement drawings (GA), and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
• Design 3D models of piping systems using appropriate components and materials.
• Translate P&ID drawings into accurate 3D models ensuring spatial coordination with other disciplines (structural and electrical).
• Route piping systems in accordance with plant layouts, considering safety, accessibility, and maintenance.
• Understand full process for piping design: equipment modeling, vendor documentation, Aconex (document control database), CMS (Construction Management System), extracting isometric drawings and creating Material Take-Offs (MTO) for procurement.
• Adhere to document control standards for revisioning and updated documentation.
• Continue to advance knowledge of piping materials, equipment, piping codes ASME B31.3 and B31.1.
