Piping Designer (Mid-level)
Beaumont, TX
Long term in plant assignment; seeking local talent.
Performs routine to difficult design assignments, which require knowledge and skill in basic drafting techniques, procedures, knowledge of applicable industry standards, and design standards. Supervises other design personnel. Assignments are designed to further develop the incumbent’s job knowledge and abilities.

Requirements

• Proficient with AutoCAD.
• Previous in plant experience.
• Ability to make field walk downs as needed.
• Field verification experience.
• 5+ years in a chemical/petrochemical/refinery.
• Experienced with drawings and red lines for As-building.

Responsibilities

• Performs related fundamental engineering support tasks such as updating computer lists, filing prints, distributing drawings, making simple calculations, proofreading reports, compiling Bills of Material, etc.
• Work with vendors to review the installation requirements for the different pieces of equipment.
• Confer with others to resolve design issues.
• Track drawing packages and provide status updates to meet requirements and deadline.
• Field check and verify any discrepancies identified on sketches and drawings.
• Using CAD software to convert field sketched and red-lined mark-ups into final “As-Built CAD drawings” for final approvals.
• Independently develops CADD drawings from scratch utilizing design sketches or catalog information.
