About The Position

Kent is looking for a Piping Designer to be based in our Corpus Christi, TX office and support regional project site(s). To understand piping project requirements, creating drafts and final designs, pitching creative ideas, collaborating with team members, and incorporating feedback to improve designs.

Requirements

  • BS, BA or AAS in Design or a related field.
  • Input for drafting Area classification drawings and other layouts.
  • Follow AutoCAD and CAD standards.
  • Decide the piping layouts optimizing the size and design of the same along with the lead designer.
  • Preparation of all layout drawings ,3D models and MTO generation.
  • Finalize installation drawings for each specific project.
  • Participate in project design reviews as required.
  • Perform inter-discipline squad checks.
  • Attend model reviews as per project schedule as required.
  • Site surveys and adequacy checks if required.
  • Perform technical audits and quality reviews.
  • Familiarity with MFDs and Isometrics.
  • Understanding of visual elements (layout, type and fonts).
  • Teamwork skills.
  • A keen eye for detail.
  • Time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Creativity skills and problem-solving aptitude.
  • Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the design processes involved in a piping project, including ensuring that drawings are ready on time, reviewing designs and making them available to the appropriate people.
  • Liaise with clients on design-related matters.
  • Establish and maintain effective methods of communication between the teams involved in design work throughout the project.
  • Maintain records and documents throughout the project.
  • Assess, mitigate and manage risks connected with design.
  • Ensure designs and design work meets health and safety legislation, sustainable building standards (such as BREEAM – the Building Research Establishment’s Environmental Assessment Method) and industry codes of practice.
  • Writing reports and giving presentations.
  • Field documentation, P&ID modifications, extraction of ISOs from a model, filling out tie in lists.
  • Augment senior designers in the process of delivering piping packages, document research, and requests for documentation.
  • Providing information to the client for line numbers, drawing numbers, P&ID equipment numbers and other information required for completing a piping package.
