About The Position

What You'll Be Doing Job Scope: The Pipe Designer is a senior‑level, hands‑on piping designer responsible for field walkdowns, 3D piping modeling, routing, and producing construction‑ready isometric drawings.This work will be performed under general supervision in Longview, TX. Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to: Familiarity with and utilizing department design and drafting standards. Familiarity with project scope, specifications and design criteria upon assignment to a project task team. Developing the design and drafting of moderately complex piping drawings given basic information such as P&ID’s, GA’s, piping specifications, equipment drawings, etc. Performing field design work to ascertain current conditions, locate new systems, communicate with client personnel and assist in construction Preparing material take-offs from piping drawings Use 2D CAD tools to finalize and issue piping isometrics. Model piping systems in a 3D environment, preferably AVEVA E3D. Perform field walkdowns to collect measurements and verify existing conditions. On-site assistance during startup. Ideal Background Education: Associate degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field required. Experience: Requires 4+ years of relevant industrial experience in mechanical/piping design with recent field and 3D modeling work. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong understanding of piping layout principles, industry codes, and material specifications. Proficiency in 3D modeling software (AVEVA E3D highly preferred). Ability to interpret P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, and vendor equipment drawings. Skilled in producing, checking, and correcting piping isometric drawings. Excellent problem‑solving skills, particularly in resolving design conflicts and routing challenges. Strong field‑verification skills with the ability to take accurate measurements and document site conditions. Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, designers, project managers, and field personnel. Knowledge of 2D CAD platforms such as MicroStation or AutoCAD for final deliverables. Ability to manage workload efficiently and meet project deadlines. Commitment to safety, constructability, and high‑quality design output.
