About The Position

With surgical precision the Ingalls First-Class Pipewelders seal together the vital piping networks supplying our ships their various chemicals, steam, ventilation, and heating and cooling systems. Our Pipe Welders are among the best in the world and stound out in their field. Does that sound like an interesting way to make a great living? Then a rewarding career as an Ingalls Shipbuilding Pipewelder awaits you at Mississippi’s largest manufacturing employer and “America’s Shipyard”. Since 1938, Ingalls workforce has done their part in helping our nation by constructing nearly 70 percent of our US Navy’s fleet of ships. If you possess the talent, skill, ability or even the willingness to learn, perhaps you have what it takes to become a valued team member. An Ingalls Pipewelder is responsible for performing pipe welding procedures on Stainless Steel and Copper-Nickel pipe using Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), also known as tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding. Types of metal materials with a variety of welding processes; the most basic of which are, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) also known as "stick welding” and Flux-Core Arc Welding (FCAW) also known as “wire welding”. The shipyard environment is an around the clock manufacturing setting. Ingalls shipyard production areas at times involve working at different heights, confined spaces, different weather conditions as well as multiple shifts 24 hours a day.
