The Pipeline Operator at Kinder Morgan is responsible for implementing the Company's Damage Prevention Program, which includes patrolling, locating, and inspecting construction and excavation activities related to pipelines and associated facilities. The role emphasizes safety, compliance, and effective communication with various stakeholders, ensuring the protection of assets and adherence to company policies and regulations.

  • Locate and mark facilities per Company Damage Prevention Program and One-Call procedures prior to and during encroachment excavation.
  • Coordinate local/state Damage Prevention activities.
  • Provide oversight and inspection to ensure asset protection and compliance with Company procedures of excavation activities near pipeline facilities.
  • Inspect projects primarily relating to excavation near pipeline facilities and repair of pipeline facilities.
  • Complete required documentation, as-built drawings, and contractor oversight and supervision.
  • Act as Company representative during construction activities and report progress to Operations and Project Manager.
  • Ensure proper reporting and compliance with Safety and Environmental policies.
  • Participate in quality emergency responder programs.
  • Process State One-Call locate requests from excavators and contractors using company software.
  • Represent the Company during contacts with landowners, public officials, and local organizations.
  • Inspect/oversee construction and maintenance activities performed by third parties.
  • Train and oversee Company and third party personnel as required.
  • Provide mapping updates and participate in data entry duties per Company policies.
  • Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
  • Actively participate in safety programs and initiatives.
  • Participate in the development of O&M Procedures, Site Specific Procedures, project scopes, and work plans.
  • Complete all applicable documentation and record keeping.
  • Assist with all Pipeline and Pump Station activities as required.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Good record of safe work practices and a positive attitude.
  • Basic computer skills including knowledge of MS Office and company software.
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, alignment sheets, and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and unsupervised environment, prioritize work, and adhere to schedules.
  • Experience in pipeline operations or related field.
  • Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations.
