About The Position

The Pipeline Operator is responsible for supporting day to day construction, maintenance, and operations activities on the pipelines and facilities located in their district. The Pipeline Operator will work with technical personnel and the Pipeline Maintenance Supervisor to ensure their work is planned and carried out to keep the system operating in a safe, cost-efficient manner. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, and vision of the organization. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • In lieu of the above education requirements, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • One (1) or more years Experience in a related field (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Monitors process indicators, instruments, gauges, and meters to detect and report any possible problems
  • Support pipeline cleaning and pigging activities, operate small pumps, repair pipeline leaks with integrity or maintenance, install and paint right-of-way markers.
  • Monitor usage and/or replace lubricants, fluids, inhibitors, chemicals, etc., as needed to ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment and pipeline stations.
  • Make necessary manual valve alignment changes as directed by the Pipeline Operations Manager or the SCADA control room or as needed to manage emergency situations within the various pipeline systems.
  • Calculate, compile, and/or prepare information and reports including, but not limited to: liquid flow and quality, Maintenance and/or repair logs, Product Samples, Pipeline/corrosion activities, Appropriate regulatory requirements, and Construction inspection
  • Safely climbs various equipment components of the facility to collect samples, data and perform other necessary work on a regular basis
  • Responsible for operation of manual and automatic valves, meters, pumps, loading stations and transfer systems that move product between truck, tanks, and pipelines
  • Assists with mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation maintenance within the terminal
  • Collects and/or catches samples from tanks, pipes, and tank trucks and any additional/special samples as required
  • Assists with information gathering for inventory and compliance reporting
  • Reads unit gauges to determine the flow rate of product into and from tanks and the amount of product in tanks
  • Inspects equipment on a scheduled timeframe
  • Performs housekeeping and grounds maintenance using motorized equipment
  • Assists with pre-job planning and safe work permitting
  • Responsible for performing duties related to pipeline/terminal (maintenance, safety, light construction, etc.)
  • Passes required OQ (Operator Qualification) testing
  • Completes FEMA ICS 100 & 200 Training
  • Performs needed tasks within the company’s Spill Response Team
  • Participates in annual boom deployment training
  • Completes bi-annual First-Aid, CPR and AED training
  • Completes 40hr Hazwoper Training
  • Attends one spill exercise bi-annually
