About The Position

The Pipeline Integrity Engineer/Analyst position at Southern Company involves providing technical support for the Transmission Integrity Management Program (TIMP). This role encompasses responsibilities across various levels of engineering and analyst progression, focusing on the planning and execution of inline inspection assessments, analyzing pipeline data, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The position requires collaboration with operations and engineering teams to maintain pipeline safety and integrity while managing budgets and vendor contracts.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent for Analyst I, II / Sr. Analyst positions.
  • B.S. in Engineering for Engineer II, III, and Sr. Engineer positions.
  • 4 years relevant work experience for Analyst I, 5 years for Analyst II, and 8 years for Sr. Analyst.
  • 3+ years gas utility operations or related experience for Engineer II, 5+ years for Engineer III, and 7+ years for Sr. Engineer.
  • Project management proficiency and advanced GIS proficiency.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • ESRI Professional Certification.
  • Engineer In Training (E.I.T.) Certification.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) Certification.
  • Advanced Degree (Master's) in Engineering or MBA.
  • Pipeline Integrity experience and Utility experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the TIMP subject matter expert for inline inspection assessments.
  • Analyze transmission pipeline data to identify High Consequence Areas and pipeline threats.
  • Prepare excavation plans and technical exhibits for field assessment activities.
  • Document all aspects of the transmission pipeline integrity management plan.
  • Prepare technical requests for proposals for transmission pipeline integrity field services.
  • Responsible for tracking, monitoring, and reporting of assessment budgets.
  • Administer contracts with third-party contractors and perform quality audits of contractor work.
  • Provide technical assistance for operations to maintain pipeline safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Communicate with affected landowners regarding assessment activities.
  • Prepare required regulatory reports and documentation.
