The Opportunity Our USGO Erie Plains - LEX-Meigs team is seeking a Pipeline & Corrosion Technician to support the operation and maintenance of our natural gas facilities. We are seeking an individual that possesses knowledge and experience of high-pressure natural gas pipeline, gas measurement, compression, and cathodic protection systems. This individual must be a self-starter, capable of working with minimal supervision, who possesses excellent problem solving, communication, and decision-making skills. The successful candidate must reside within 30 miles or 45 minutes of Pomeroy, OH, to comply with emergency response requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated work experience in energy, industrial plant or related industry
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and related software
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a TC Energy DOT driver status.
  • Maintain a safe driving record.
  • Obtain operator qualifications to perform applicable covered tasks
  • Successfully complete TC Energy Pigging and Basics (6077)
  • Successfully complete TC Energy Relief Valve (7057)
  • Successfully complete TC Energy CP boot camp. (6570)
  • Successfully complete TC Energy CP boot camp advance (6571)
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
  • Be available for call-out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and work extended days and/or weeks for emergency response purposes
  • Be willing to travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training, which may involve overnight stays away from home
  • Be able to work in adverse weather and temperature conditions, as well as cramped spaces
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a TC Energy DOT driver status.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience locating and marking pipeline infrastructure
  • Ability to interpret technical reference documents and P&ID drawings
  • NACE CP Level 1 certification
  • Knowledge of the installation of impressed current ground beds and rectifiers
  • 4-5 years of experience performing test point surveys using a field data logger (e.g. Mesa)
  • CDL with Hazmat preferred for fluid handling

Responsibilities

  • Locating and marking underground facilities per 811
  • Oversee and manage pipeline or utility crossings and encroachments coordinating all work around facilities with private, state and federal landowners, contractors, and customers
  • Identify, investigate and address encroachments and aerial patrol observations
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance tasks including but not limited to facility inspections, operation and maintenance of valves and actuators, quick opening closures, storage wells, fluid removal and gas process and dehydration facilities, cathodic protection systems, exposures and other auxiliary equipment
  • Perform maintenance activities such as leak repair, hydrate and fluid removal, vegetation management, inspection of right-of-way, assisting with tie-ins of mainline valves and pipe, cleaning of fluid removal and process equipment, and maintenance of launchers, receivers, vessels and closures
  • Overseeing excavating loaded natural gas pipelines, assisting with pipe replacements, hot tapping and stopple equipment, pigging operations, pipe cleaning (internal and external), pipe fabrication, pipe recoating, and hydrostatic testing
  • Patrol pipeline right-of-way, storage and compression facilities assisting with leak surveys
  • Atmospheric corrosion inspection and mitigation including surface preparation and coating applications
  • Plan and coordinate activities acting as operations representative performing all required operations tasks and inspections for maintenance and capital construction projects including but not limited to hot work, energy isolation, gas handling, NORMS and Benzene monitoring, critical lifts, pipeline inspections, monitoring contractor activities, pre-start up safety reviews (PSSR) and commissioning activities when required
  • Launch, monitor, and receive pipeline pigs and develop pipeline pigging plans.
  • Conduct internal pipeline cleaning or pigging operations utilizing internal pipe cleaning equipment
  • Internal corrosion related sampling activities (liquid sampling, coupon removal/installation, etc.)
  • Maintain remote monitoring units installed on rectifiers
  • Conduct periodic surveys on pipelines and facilities to assess corrosion and cathodic protection system performance
  • Conduct periodic resistivity and potential surveys on pipelines and compressor station facilities to identify areas susceptible to corrosion and assess the performance of cathodic protection systems
  • Check rectifiers and magnesium anode installations to evaluate the operating efficiency of the cathodic protection equipment
  • Assist in analyzing problem areas and recommend solutions to mitigate corrosion
  • Install interference bonds in coordination with other teams
  • Support current requirement tests for new ground bed installations
  • Maintain records of operation and maintenance activities for cathodic protection equipment
  • Perform close interval surveys in small segments and supervise contractors conducting close interval surveys
  • Detect and repair shorted road casings
  • Identify corrosion issues that require Engineering Services support
  • Inspect electrolysis bonds and conduct potential surveys on protected high-pressure pipelines
  • Monitor system parameters and pressures to assure operations within requirements including MAOP
  • Planning and leading pipeline isolation and gas handling activities, blowdowns, purging, and pressuring up
  • Monitoring contractor activity on site
  • Support US Regulatory Compliance and external inspection agencies on integrated and field inspections
  • Identifying requirements for technical and physical management of change (MOC) and act as MOC originator and / or coordinator
  • Complete work orders, enter data into job plans, create new work orders, etc. in SAP/BlueWorx, and other task specific programs
  • Performing all work in compliance with company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Performs remedial and preventative maintenance and maintains facility appearance and safety through good housekeeping practices inside and outside of the facilities
  • Perform other duties as required at compressor stations, M&R stations and pipeline facilities
