We’re looking for a Pipelayer who will be responsible for performing tasks related to the installation, repair, and maintenance of underground piping systems. This role works closely with equipment operators, laborers, and project supervisors to ensure water, sewer, and storm drain piping is installed safely, accurately, and efficiently. The Pipelayer must be able to interpret instructions, operate equipment, and perform physical labor in varying site conditions while consistently upholding RNGD’s safety, quality, and productivity standards.

  • Install, repair, and maintain underground piping systems including water, sewer, and storm drain.
  • Lay pipe to proper grade and slope in accordance with project specifications and plans.
  • Perform trench excavation, backfilling, and compaction to prepare sites for pipe installation.
  • Use hand tools and small equipment to cut, fit, and connect piping materials.
  • Inspect completed pipe installations to ensure proper alignment, sealing, and functionality.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as skid steers, mini-excavators, and trenching equipment under supervision.
  • Use compaction equipment, pipe lasers, and other construction tools safely and effectively.
  • Perform basic equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns to supervisors.
  • Assist with trench shoring, bedding placement, and installation of pipe supports.
  • Clear and prepare job sites for pipe installation activities.
  • Assist operators and crew members with lifting, moving, and placing materials.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area at all times.
  • Adhere to company and site-specific safety programs at all times.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions or practices to supervisors immediately.
  • Comply with OSHA, environmental, and company safety requirements.
  • Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow trenching and excavation safety standards.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in heavy civil construction or underground utility installation.
  • Knowledge of underground pipe installation methods, grades, and slopes.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment such as skid steers and mini-excavators.
  • Physical ability to perform labor-intensive work, including trenching, lifting, and working in confined spaces.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and OSHA compliance.
  • Experience with laser-guided pipe installation preferred.
  • Trench and excavation competent person training preferred.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Experience working on municipal, DOT, or large-scale civil projects preferred.
