About The Position

Skillforce is seeking Pipefitters for a project in Fairfax, VA. Pipefitters install, assemble, fabricate, and maintain high-pressure piping systems for industrial, manufacturing, and commercial settings, often handling chemicals, gases, and steam. Key duties include reading blueprints, cutting/threading pipes, welding, and conducting pressure tests for safety. Jobs often require apprenticeships, mechanical skill, and physical stamina. PAY: $26-$28 per hour, depending on experience.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of a formal pipefitting apprenticeship program or equivalent work experience.
Proven experience in pipefitting, including installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
Familiarity with hand and power tools used in pipefitting.
Knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to pipefitting work.

Nice To Haves

Certification from a recognized trade organization such as the United Association (UA) or NCCER.
Experience with welding techniques relevant to pipefitting, such as TIG, MIG, or arc welding.
Knowledge of specialized piping systems, including HVAC, steam, or chemical piping.
Ability to operate heavy machinery or equipment related to pipe installation.
Additional training or certification in safety practices such as OSHA 10 or 30-hour courses.

Responsibilities

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout and installation of piping systems.
Measure, cut, thread, and assemble pipes using hand and power tools according to project requirements.
Install, maintain, and repair piping systems, including valves, fittings, and fixtures, ensuring leak-free and secure connections.
Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and other tradespeople to coordinate work and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Perform pressure tests and inspections to verify the integrity and functionality of piping systems.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and any modifications made during installation or repair.
Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
