About The Position

The Commercial HVAC Pipefitter at BCI Mechanical is responsible for installing, assembling, fabricating, maintaining, and repairing piping systems used in commercial HVAC applications. This includes systems for chilled water, hot water, steam, and refrigerant. The role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to read blueprints, and experience working on large-scale commercial or industrial projects. BCI Mechanical is a family-managed private company with a long-standing foundation of customer relationships and significant growth in recent years, with a heavy backlog of construction, service, and maintenance accounts. Work is performed throughout the Kansas City Metropolitan Area and expanding into Northeast Kansas.

Requirements

3+ years of commercial HVAC or industrial pipefitting experience (preferred)
Strong knowledge of hydronic and refrigerant piping systems
Ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings
Experience with welding and/or brazing preferred
Familiarity with building codes and safety regulations
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Responsibilities

Install and assemble piping systems for HVAC equipment, including chillers, boilers, air handlers, and cooling towers
Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and isometric drawings
Cut, thread, groove, braze, solder, and weld pipe (steel, copper, PVC, etc.)
Layout and install hangers, supports, and piping systems according to code and project requirements
Perform system testing, flushing, and startup support
Troubleshoot and repair existing HVAC piping systems
Coordinate with project managers, foremen, and other trades on job sites
Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal codes and safety standards
Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, organized work area
