About The Position

This position serves is in the Maintenance & repair section at the VHA New York Harbor Healthcare System, Facility Maintenance Service. Incumbents will be assigned a duty station accordingly. The Pipefitter Supervisor is responsible for supervising pipefitters and plumbers.

Requirements

• Ability to make repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms.
• Physical capability to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
• Ability to handle, lift, carry, and set up parts and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with asbestos containing materials.
• Completion of respirator training and fit testing.

Responsibilities

• Supervise pipefitters and plumbers.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Oversee repairs and installations in various locations, including hard-to-reach places.
