Requirements

One (1) to Four (4) years of experience in Pipefitting (depending on mechanic level)
Ability to meet client job site safety requirements (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.)
Pre-employment craft test, drug screen, physical, background check, and completion of safety training is a condition of employment
Practice all safety rules
Follow verbal and written instructions
Safely use hand and power tools
Report to and assist immediate supervisor
Perform quality work as determined by project specifications
Account for all tools and materials at the end of your shift
Work well as part of a team
Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. (assistance recommended for heavier loads)
Stand/walk for long periods and work extended hours on uneven surfaces
Climb ladders, scaffolds, and work at heights or in confined spaces
Wear respirator and other PPE as required

Nice To Haves

NCCER certification preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

Selects size and type of pipe and related material and equipment according to job specifications
Inspects worksite to avoid structural weaknesses
Plans sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and interference with other workers
Cuts, threads, and bends pipe
Mounts pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceilings
Assembles and installs a variety of metal or nonmetal pipes and pipe fittings
Joins pipe using threaded, caulked, soldering, brazing, fused, or cemented joints
Installs and maintains refrigeration and air conditioning systems
Tests piping systems for leaks
Secures pipes to structure with brackets, clamps, and hangers
Welds pipe supports to structural steel members
May observe production machines to detect malfunctions or verify repairs (if certified)
May assist in lifting, positioning, and securing material during installation
Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of tools/equipment
Respiratory protection may be required
Other duties as assigned
