Requirements

  • One (1) to Four (4) years of experience in Pipefitting (depending on mechanic level)
  • Ability to meet client job site safety requirements (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.)
  • Pre-employment craft test, drug screen, physical, background check, and completion of safety training is a condition of employment
  • Practice all safety rules
  • Follow verbal and written instructions
  • Safely use hand and power tools
  • Report to and assist immediate supervisor
  • Perform quality work as determined by project specifications
  • Account for all tools and materials at the end of your shift
  • Work well as part of a team
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. (assistance recommended for heavier loads)
  • Stand/walk for long periods and work extended hours on uneven surfaces
  • Climb ladders, scaffolds, and work at heights or in confined spaces
  • Wear respirator and other PPE as required

Nice To Haves

  • NCCER certification preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Selects size and type of pipe and related material and equipment according to job specifications
  • Inspects worksite to avoid structural weaknesses
  • Plans sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and interference with other workers
  • Cuts, threads, and bends pipe
  • Mounts pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceilings
  • Assembles and installs a variety of metal or nonmetal pipes and pipe fittings
  • Joins pipe using threaded, caulked, soldering, brazing, fused, or cemented joints
  • Installs and maintains refrigeration and air conditioning systems
  • Tests piping systems for leaks
  • Secures pipes to structure with brackets, clamps, and hangers
  • Welds pipe supports to structural steel members
  • May observe production machines to detect malfunctions or verify repairs (if certified)
  • May assist in lifting, positioning, and securing material during installation
  • Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of tools/equipment
  • Respiratory protection may be required
  • Other duties as assigned
