About The Position

Turner Industries is seeking a Pipefitter Fabricator for a maintenance position in Geismar, LA. The Pipefitter Fabricator lays out, fabricates, prepares, and checks pipe against job specifications for assembly at the jobsite. This is a non-exempt role that reports to the Foreman, with assigned duties according to specific procedures and frequent checks of work. The position requires 40 hours per week with no overtime or per diem.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five (5) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level).
• Pipefitter Certification required.
• Basic knowledge of Pipe Fabrication hand tools.
• Familiar with mathematical formulas for offsets.
• May be required to create Field Sketch Drawings.
• Some sites may require Forklift certification.
• Written pre-employment qualification test.
• Background, Drug Screen, and XOM Site Specific Testing.
• Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.).
• Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.).
• Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.

Responsibilities

• Interprets spool sheet diagrams to determine size, shapes and angles of required pipes, pipe fittings, flanges, etc.
• Plans sequence of fabrication.
• Measures and cuts pipe.
• Cleans and prepares pipe by grinding, bending and threading pipe - may operate bending machine.
• Assembles and joins pipe and pipe fittings.
• May operate hydraulic lift to relocate pipe.
• Performs additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
