About The Position

The Pipe Fitter Apprentice III is responsible for assisting in the installation, repair, and maintenance of piping systems in commercial and industrial HVAC systems. This position is suited to individuals advancing in their pipe fitting career, with prior experience as an apprentice and a demonstrated understanding of basic pipe fitting skills and safety protocols. The Apprentice III works under the supervision of experienced pipe fitters and project foremen to gain additional hands-on experience and further develop their skills. Key duties include assisting in pipe installation, interpreting blueprints, working with various tools and materials, and ensuring compliance with company and industry standards. The role requires strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to learning and safety.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Pipe Fitter Apprentice.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC systems and piping components, including chill-water piping, hot water piping, and steam piping.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and drawings.
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driver qualification policies.
  • Punctual and regular attendance.
  • Willingness to follow and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test in accordance with the Company Substance Abuse Policy.
  • Must complete and pass a pre-employment fitness test.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior pipe fitters with the installation and repair of piping systems.
  • Install carbon steel, copper, and other types of pipe under supervision and in compliance with codes and standards.
  • Assist with the installation of equipment such as boilers, chillers, and pumps.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics related to HVAC systems and piping layouts.
  • Operate and maintain tools and equipment, ensuring proper use and storage.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following all job site safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with other trades and team members to complete projects efficiently and effectively.
  • Ensure quality workmanship while adhering to project timelines and specifications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or project foremen.
