About The Position

Venture Dynamics is seeking skilled Pipe Welders to perform high-quality pipe welding aboard Navy and commercial vessels. The Pipe Welder supports ship repair, system renewal, and mechanical modification work through welding of shipboard piping systems in active shipyard and shipboard environments. This role requires producing sound, code-compliant welds in restricted positions while meeting NAVSEA and OSHA Maritime standards. Work is performed aboard vessels, in dry docks, and in industrial repair facilities. Per diem may be available depending on contract requirements and travel distance.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of ship repair or marine pipe welding experience
  • Proficiency performing GTAW and SMAW pipe welding on copper-nickel, stainless steel, and carbon steel
  • Ability to pass 6G or 6GR pipe weld tests in accordance with NAVSEA or customer requirements
  • Strong understanding of pipe joint fit-up, weld preparation, and distortion control
  • Ability to read and interpret pipe drawings, weld symbols, and isometric layouts
  • Firewatch trained, or ability to obtain firewatch training, in accordance with NAVSEA Standard Item 009-70 or OSHA 29 CFR 1915.504
  • Ability to pass background screening and drug testing per customer requirements
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required base access credentials, including DBIDS

Nice To Haves

  • NAVSEA pipe welding certifications
  • Experience welding shipboard systems such as seawater, potable water, fuel, hydraulic, or chilled water piping
  • Experience performing complex pipe renewals or restricted-access shipboard welds
  • OSHA 10 Maritime certification

Responsibilities

  • Perform pipe welding using GTAW and SMAW processes in all positions, including restricted-access configurations
  • Weld copper-nickel, stainless steel, and carbon steel piping systems
  • Weld butt joints, socket welds, flanges, reducers, tees, and specialty fittings
  • Execute weld preparation including beveling, cleaning, grinding, and joint alignment for quality root and fill passes
  • Follow approved drawings, weld symbols, procedures, and specifications to meet NAVSEA and customer requirements
  • Read and interpret isometric drawings, P&IDs, and pipe routing diagrams
  • Support piping system installation, renewal, and modification work
