NexGen Contracting, the self-perform arm of Gray, is based in Franklin, TN, and specializes in executing turnkey project scopes, including concrete, steel, millwright, and finishes. NexGen is fully integrated with Gray Construction and serves as a preferred subcontractor. Responsible for overseeing and coordinating all the activities within his craft according to project blueprints and schedule plans. Coordinating with subcontractors, performing quality control and safety checks, and providing on-site direction. Make sure all OSHA guidelines are followed. Work with vendors hand-in-hand to ensure the work meets all specs.

Requirements

• This position requires 10-15 years of relevant experience.
• An associate’s or bachelor’s degree is an added benefit, but not required.
• Communicates well both verbally and in writing, creates accurate and punctual reports, delivers presentations, shares information and ideas with others, has good listening skills.
• Ability to identify, assimilate and comprehend the critical elements of a situation to extract and interpret implications of courses of actions to attend to details of a problem.
• Effectiveness in planning and controlling work, motivating and developing subordinates, improving work methods and results, encouraging and supporting suggestions for work improvements, etc.
• Breaks down problems into smaller components, understands underlying issues, can simplify and process complex issues, understands the difference between critical details and unimportant facts.
• Plans for and uses resources efficiently, always looks for ways to reduce costs.
• Is attentive to detail and accuracy, is committed to excellence, looks for improvements continuously, monitors quality levels, finds root cause of quality problems, owns/acts on quality problems.
• Ability to monitor construction schedules and advise on potential setbacks or issues.
• Communicates expectations and importance of safety. Follows up and ensures safety audits are completed accurately and timely. Identifies critical issues and assists in the development of improvement procedures.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of workers, including work schedule, project progress and resource allocation.
• Create cost estimates for labor, supplies, materials and other project cost.
• Collaborate with clients, Project Management, other construction management to determine Budget and timeline.
• Coordinate materials and equipment delivery with venders and suppliers.
• Create schedules for workers and subcontractors.
• Maintain a daily log for the job sites operation, reporting to management as necessary.
• Make changes in the operation as necessary to best meet construction deadlines.
• Implement management techniques that are cost-effective and efficient.
