The Opportunity Reporting to the Team Leader, Stress Corrosion Cracking team in the Pipe Integrity Corrosion and Crack Threat Management Department, the person in this position is an Engineer/Technologist supporting a variety of pipeline integrity activities and projects involving the company's existing natural gas pipeline systems in Canada and across the U.S. The Pipeline Integrity Engineer/Technologist assists with pipeline integrity program planning, pipeline failure investigation, excavation programs, procedures development, performs analysis, participates in studies and develops engineering standards and procedures related to pipeline integrity projects. Requirements

  • 2+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Four-year degree in a related Engineering discipline from an accredited University or College is required. Applicants without an Engineering degree but with significant relevant experience may be considered for the Technologist job ladder
  • Registered, or eligible for registration in the immediate future, as a professional member or E.I.T. with APEGA (if based in Canada)
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills are required for this position as typical projects utilize an extended project team from Field Operations, Field Specialists, Reliability Engineers, Business Development, Planning, Project Management, Drafting, Supply Chain, Communications, Information Technology and Gas Control as well as outside vendors, surveyors, third-party engineering, and installation contractors.

Nice To Haves

  • 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of pipeline integrity management, in-line inspection tools (MFL and/or EMAT) and pipeline condition evaluations
  • Knowledge of data handling / analysis and administrative automation
  • Knowledge of Canadian Energy Regulator Act (CERA), Onshore Pipeline Regulations OPR, and CSA Z662
  • Knowledge of 49 CFR Part 192, API 1163, 1173, 1176 and related industry standards
  • Previous experience in the operation and integrity management of high-pressure natural gas or liquid transmission pipelines and or related facilities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review, analyze, and conduct pipeline defect analysis utilizing direct assessment, in-line inspection, pressure test, and other assessment data to propose remedial or follow up actions
  • Perform advanced quantitative risk analysis (likelihood of failure, consequence modeling, corrosion growth, etc.)
  • Perform Engineering Assessments to determine the continued safe operation of the pipeline
  • Develop and support excavation programs
  • Provide technical support to internal stakeholders as required
  • Interact with regulatory agencies and provide audit support as required
  • Assist internal response to pipeline failures and root cause investigations
  • Support project development, planning, and budget programs
  • Assist the team in tracking and completion of work related to the expedited Engineering Critical Assessment program
  • Other tasks as required.
