About The Position

Allan Myers is seeking an Experienced Skilled Excavator Operator with a strong background in mainline pipe installation to join our Heavy Civil Construction team. The ideal candidate has at least 5+ years of experience operating excavators in underground utility work and site development. This position plays a critical role in the safe and precise excavation for stormwater, sewer, and waterline systems.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 plus years of excavator operating experience in mainline pipe installation for heavy civil construction.
• Familiarity with GPS machine control systems is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of trench safety, soil conditions, and utility installation methods.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a coordinated pipe crew.
• Comfortable working in a physically demanding outdoor environment and various weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license required; CDL is a plus.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.

Nice To Haves

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) a plus.
• Related work experience required.

Responsibilities

• Operate hydraulic excavators (e.g., Cat 320, 330, 336 or similar) to excavate trenches for storm, sanitary, and water mainline pipe installations.
• Work closely with pipe crews and foremen to ensure proper trench depth, slope, and bedding for utilities.
• Utilize GPS and/or laser-guided systems for accurate digging and grade control.
• Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, grade stakes, and utility layouts.
• Perform routine daily equipment inspections, maintenance checks, and report mechanical issues promptly.
• Ensure safe trenching practices in compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
• Maintain clean and organized work zones and contribute to overall crew productivity.
