Requirements

  • Must Pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical.
  • Safety-First mentality.
  • Physical fitness to work in diverse conditions/climates and the ability to regularly lift or carry 50 lbs. and up to 100 lbs. as needed.
  • Team Player with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to Work out of town, overtime, or weekends as needed.
  • Previous Experience with water, storm, or sewer pipe laying, pipe bursting, pipe rehab.
  • Experience: Previous experience in HDPE pipe fusion (1-5 years) is typically required.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of SDR (Standard Dimension Ratio) ratings, pipe properties, and fusion methods.
  • Physical Strength: Ability to lift up to 50–75 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Skills: Attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and ability to read technical drawings or blueprints.
  • Documentation: Proficient in maintaining accurate, detailed records

Nice To Haves

  • Certification: Specialized training or certification (e.g., McElroy) is often preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Pipe Fusion Operations: Perform butt fusion, electrofusion, or saddle fusion on various diameters of HDPE pipes.
  • Equipment Operation: Set up, operate, and maintain specialized fusion equipment (e.g., McElroy machines). (14, 26, 412, 618, & T900)
  • Pipe Preparation: Measure, cut, clean, and align pipe sections to ensure proper fusion.
  • Quality Control & Inspection: Inspect joints visually, perform pressure tests, and ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ASTM).
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate, detailed fusion logs, recording parameters like temperature, pressure, and cooling times; data logger.
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere to strict OSHA and site-specific safety regulations, including working in trenches and confined spaces.
