The Role Pipe Fitters are responsible for installing these complex systems together on the ship and in the shop: more than 23 miles of pipe are installed on a submarine, and more than 230 miles of pipe are installed on a carrier. As a pipe fitter, you will learn to read blueprints, fabricate, install, inspect, and test the many piping systems onboard a ship. In your first few weeks at the company you will attend a Fundamentals of Piping Fitting class where you will receive important information needed for you to perform you job. During your career you will also receive other training need to enhance your knowledge of the job.
