About The Position

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a pipe backhoe.

Requirements

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
• 3 recent years’ experience working as a Backhoe Operator
• Must have experience in laying water, sewer and storm pipe
• Active Driver’s license required with no DUIs or serious traffic violations
• CDL Class 'A' driver's license

• Demonstrate a safety first attitude
• Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public
• Ability to work nights and weekends when necessary
• Must have reliable transportation, and ability to travel to assigned worksites
• Knowledge and understanding of 'safety systems' associated with equipment operation including set-up and emergency procedures
• Knowledge and understanding of loading, unloading, and transport procedures for equipment

Responsibilities

• Assist pipe layer in the installation of water main and sewers
• Transport aggregate or other materials in a safe and precise manner
• Maneuver loader and other heavy equipment safely on public or private roadways
• Loading, delivery, and dumping of materials in a safe and timely manner
• Move lever to raise and tilt bucket when filled, or to dump material
• Maintain cleanliness and good condition of trucks
• Perform daily inspections and safety checks on equipment; reports defects and repairs
• Perform minor maintenance to include cleaning, lubricating and refilling equipment
• Check fluid levels, maintain tires pressures and change implements or attachments
• Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
• Work closely with ground crew to achieve project objectives
