About The Position

JOB GOAL : To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development incorporating a framework clustered into four domains of teaching responsibility: planning and preparation, classroom environment, instruction, and professional responsibilities. The Robotics/Engineering teacher is responsible for classroom instruction in robotics and science/engineering – students will trace the history, development, and influence of robotics/engineering as they learn about mechanical systems, energy transfer, computer control systems, using VEX Robotics platform to design, build, and program real-world objects such as traffic lights, tool booths, robotic arms, etc. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine and one-fourth (9.25) month contract (190 days), plus benefit package. Requirements

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university teacher education program.
Arkansas teacher’s license or licensure permit appropriate for level and/or subject area assignment: Pre-Engineering, Robotics, or any 6th, 7th and 8th grade certification with appropriate work experience.
Relevant teaching experience and/or experience in planning and managing logistics and details regarding events, such as robotics competitions.
Working knowledge of relevant technology.

Responsibilities

Teaches assigned subject area using the course of study adopted by the Board of Education, LRSD Curriculum Guides, and other appropriate learning activities.
Communicates effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the District.
Plans, prepares, and delivers instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences, demonstrating pedagogy, knowledge of students, instructional goals, knowledge of resources, coherent instruction, and assessing student learning.
Establishes a culture of learning: managing classroom procedure and student behavior, as well as organizing physical space. Applies appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary.
Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved – communicating with students, using questioning and discussion techniques, engaging students in learning, using assessment in instruction, utilizing technology, etc.
Integrates STEM concepts and inquiry methodologies into units and lessons.
Effectively infuses technology into instructional activities and the overall learning experiences.
Develops and adheres to professional responsibilities – reflecting on teaching, maintaining accurate records, communication with families, contributing to the assigned School and the District at large, growing and developing professionally, showing professionalism, using data to inform instruction, etc.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
