About The Position

The Piledriver is responsible for the installation of footing piles and earth support sheeting systems as directed by the Foreman or Superintendent. The Piledriver works with pile driving rigs that drive metal, concrete or wood piling into the earth during the early stages of construction. Piledrivers work with a variety of hand and portable power tools, and frequently cut, join, and fasten metal construction materials using welding equipment and oxy-acetylene torches. Direct/Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials. Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans or specifications. Drilling and setting of pile with use of caisson or other type drill rig. Lubricate, clean, or repair machinery, equipment, or tooling as needed. Welding of Connections (safety railing, tiebacks, internal bracing, etc.). Shooting Grades and/or layout of work. Installation of pile with either a diesel hammer and/or a vibratory hammer. Makes small repairs to diesel hammers as needed. Testing of micro pile/tie backs and load frames. Shares knowledge by mentoring junior team members. Assists other craft workers as needed. Keep project superintendent or general superintendent informed of known actions, written or verbal, which may affect the ability to successfully perform tasks at construction project sites or adversely affect company operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma; GED; or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of piling installation/extraction, micro piles, concrete forming and pouring, and mechanism of driving pile with a fixed mass system or ability to learn.
  • Rigging/Signaling qualification.
  • Knowledge of and ability to assemble and disassemble a crane.
  • Knowledge of a crane’s capabilities/ability to read and understand load chart.
  • Knowledge of and ability to make small repairs to diesel hammers.
  • Ability to follow applicable safety precautions as well as view and understand company's safety training video is required.
  • Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations is also required.
  • OSHA 10 and First Aid/CPR Certifications.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing with management, crew members, and business associates.
  • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency as required by management and/or project requirements.
  • Willingness to share knowledge by mentor junior crew members.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position.
  • Employment is contingent upon passing a drug and alcohol screening, which may include testing for marijuana, in accordance with Company policy and applicable laws.
  • Must be able to work 8 to 12-hour workdays, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends.
  • Must be flexible regarding work hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Must be over the age of 18.
  • Union affiliation or willingness to join the union is required.
  • Must be willing to travel within the Midwest (75%).
  • Overnight travel is required.

Nice To Haves

  • At least two years’ deep foundation/drilling experience preferred, but not required.
  • AWS Welding certification preferred, but not required.
  • OSHA 30 preferred, but not required.
