About The Position

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Pickleball Instructor will lead in teaching the assigned sport(s). The instructor is responsible for ensuring the safety of the students enrolled in his/her sport, must be knowledgeable about all aspects of coaching multiple age groups and must encourage the highest standards of conduct and scholastic achievement among all athletes. This part-time role may require evening and weekend availability.

Requirements

• Experience with teaching and/or playing pickleball.
• Knowledge of rules and regulations of pickleball.
• Flexible schedule.
• Certifications: CPR, AED, Basic First Aid certification.
• Previous experience working with children preferred.
• Must be able to demonstrate instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
• Previous experience working with diverse populations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead challenging and educational practice sessions.
• Instruct group in accordance with YMCA guidelines and rules of the game.
• Uphold, model, teach and put the four (4) core values of the YMCA into action in all activities - everyday: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
• Maintain professional appearance and report on time to all scheduled programs.
• Strive to develop the qualities of leadership, initiative and good judgement in all athletes.
• Develop habits that promote good health and sound training rules.
• Create a positive and nurturing learning environment to instill and encourage youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
• Adhere to the directions given by the head coach and assist at all times.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
