About The Position

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Pickleball Instructor maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in class.

Requirements

  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen certification required within 60 days of hire.
  • Ability to complete Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention and Sexual Harassment training within 30 days of hire.
  • Must be certified through a nationally recognized Pickleball organization such as NPA, PCI, IPTPA, etc.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper Pickleball techniques.
  • Ability to lift equipment and set up for Pickleball lessons.
  • Must be able to perform all physical requirements of the position; including walking, standing, bending, reaching and lifting up to 50lbs at a time.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver individualized training plans based on each client's goals, skill level, and physical abilities.
  • Teach and refine fundamental Pickleball techniques, including serving, returning, dinking, and strategy.
  • Create a positive and supportive training environment, encouraging clients to reach their full potential.
  • Stay updated on the latest Pickleball equipment and techniques to offer informed recommendations to clients.
  • Prioritize safety during training sessions, ensuring that clients follow proper techniques and use appropriate equipment.
  • Actively seek new clients and build relationships within the local Pickleball community.
  • Instructs Pickleball lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly, and supports members and program participants in achieving their goals.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with volunteers, members or program participants, and colleagues at all levels of the organization; helps participants and families connect with each other and the YMCA; and encourages parent or caregiver involvement.
  • Maintains records as required (e.g., attendance, progress reports).
  • Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
  • Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
