About The Position

Join our team and share the joy of pickleball! HFAC's Pickleball Coach is responsible for leading Club Members in structured group pickleball activities — including leagues, clinics, skill sessions, and mixers — within HFAC’s shared gymnasium environment. The coach must deliver exceptional member experience for the players, instructional quality, community building, and safety. Start immediately! The current program/schedule is: Beginner League Tuesdays 6-7:30pm Intermediate League Wednesdays 6-7:30pm Coach & Play session Thursdays 6-7:30 Skill clinics (e.g., Pickleball 101) Once a month, on Friday This Role Is NOT a Competitive Pickleball Program Director This position does not exist to build or expand competitive, tournament-focused, or ranking-driven pickleball leagues. HFAC pickleball programming is recreational, instructional, and member-engagement focused, not competition-driven. Success is measured by member satisfaction, safety, retention, and positive, contained shared use of space — not by level of play, rankings, or competitive outcomes.

Requirements

  • Must be a positive, welcoming champion for HFAC and Pickleball
  • Thorough knowledge of pickleball rules, scoring, strategy, and court etiquette.
  • 1–2 years of pickleball playing and/or instructional experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach effectively to varying skill levels and age groups.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Friendly, professional, and member-focused demeanor.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • CPR and AED Certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire).

Responsibilities

  • Lead group pickleball lessons, leagues, clinics, skill sessions, and coach-led play.
  • Demonstrate, monitor, and instruct participants using proper pickleball techniques, tactics, strategies, and rules.
  • Emphasize safety, injury prevention, waivers and releases, enjoyment of play, and skill development appropriate to participant level.
  • Start and end sessions on time and manage court usage effectively within a shared gymnasium.
  • Deliver exceptional, member-centric customer service that encourages repeat participation and referrals.
  • Welcome and orient new players to HFAC pickleball programs and expectations.
  • Collaborate with Membership Representatives and Fitness to integrate pickleball players into the overall HFAC membership.
  • Represent pickleball as an integral part of the HFAC brand and member experience.
  • Attend required meetings, trainings, and special events.
  • Enforce HFAC policies related to conduct, shared-space use, guests, youth, and safety.
  • Ensure pickleball equipment and gymnasium areas are clean, organized, and in good working condition before and after sessions.
  • Accurately complete required administrative tasks, including attendance tracking, incident reports, and internal documentation.
  • Use HFAC timekeeping and internal communication systems consistently.
