About The Position

The Pickleball Instructor is responsible for teaching pickleball techniques, strategies, and rules to individuals and groups, while promoting the program to encourage participation and community involvement. The role involves planning and preparing for activities, ensuring safety standards, and building positive relationships with participants and staff.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong knowledge of pickleball rules, techniques, and strategies.
• Previous coaching or teaching experience preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Pickleball coaching certification required.
• CACPR and First Aid certification and Safety training required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Teach pickleball techniques, strategies, and rules to individuals and groups.
• Plan and prepare for all activities in advance, ensuring proper materials and equipment are available.
• Incorporate YMCA Character Development values into each lesson.
• Ensure gym or program sites are clean, hazard-free, and adhere to safety standards.
• Ensure all classes taught are in accordance with YMCA of Cleveland standards and guidelines.
• Follow YMCA policies related to medical, disciplinary, and emergency procedures.
• Promote the program to encourage participation and community involvement.
• Build positive relationships with participants, parents, and staff through strong communication and modeling relationship-building skills.
• Adhere to child abuse prevention policies, including recognizing and reporting potential concerns.
• Other duties as assigned.
