The Annealing Furnace Operator at Materion is responsible for the safe operation of two annealing furnaces, ensuring proper load construction and selecting the appropriate furnace computer program. This role involves operating computer-controlled furnaces, processing materials, maintaining quality control, and performing routine maintenance tasks in a manufacturing environment.

  • Operates the VFS & 403 computer controlled annealing furnaces.
  • Determines the best configuration for furnace loads considering product size, shape, and weight.
  • Enters data into the annealing furnace database and processes quality control samples.
  • Processes intermediate and finished materials through chemical cleaning tanks in the Pickle Room.
  • Enters material movements into SAP and completes quality control paperwork.
  • Displays knowledge of vacuum systems, performs leak detection, and solves routine problems.
  • Performs troubleshooting and routine preventative maintenance on production equipment.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area by following 5S practices.
  • Follows safety rules and standard operating procedures to ensure personal safety and product quality.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of industrial manufacturing experience using computer databases and driving a fork truck.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and safety rules.
  • Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Experience using measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, rulers, and tape measures.
  • Basic math skills, including fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and make good decisions.
  • Knowledge of vacuum equipment is preferred.
